You can expect early and long bloom from SALLYFUN™ ‘Blue Lagoon', a dwarf border sage with dense, aromatic foliage. Its spikes of deep violet-blue flowers attract bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds, but aren’t particularly tasty to deer.
Developed in Israel by Danziger, this compact and uniformly flowered sage is a cultivar of Salvia farinacea, which is native to Texas, New Mexico, and northern Mexico and is also known as Mealycup Sage.
SALLYFUN™ ‘Blue Lagoon' is perennial in areas with moderate winter temperatures (8-11) and a fine annual elsewhere. In addition to being an excellent choice for lining pathways or bordering flowerbeds, it’s lovely for close-up viewing in containers.
Plant Blue Lagoon Sage in rich, well-drained soil or potting mix fertilized about once a month. Provide average watering depending on local rainfall. It grows well in exposures ranging from full sun to partial shade and handles heat and summer humidity well.
Due to its long, reliable bloom and adaptability, Salvia farinacea is popular nationwide.
