Imperial Broccoli has an excellent heat tolerance so they are a good fit for our summer weather in Eastern Oregon.
The heads are dark green with uniform appearance. Best suited for harvest in summer and early fall in areas with long days and moderate heat. Imperial grows slowly in cold weather. Info & Seed Source: Johnny's Seeds
A Summerfield Acres FAVORITE, we plant them in the spring, they produce 1 large head each plant...but wait....and a few weeks later, smaller secondary heads develop as well. These secondary heads add to the value and yield of this crop. This variety has filled our freezer for many years and it is the only variety we grow and recommend.:) Spray occasionally with BT (natural bacteria found in the soil available in garden section) to prevent the green worms that like to take up residence in the heads of all brassicas. The worms are from the little white moths flitting around in the summer. Pesky, but easily controlled with a couple applications of BT each season.
Plants are ready to plant, grown in 2" pots.
