It's a new phase beginning here at Summerfield Acres. I was getting tired of trying to navigate the always-changing Facebook page dynamics and the fear of having my page hacked, I will keep that page up-to-date as long as I don't have too many issues with it.:) I feel like adding a website was the next logical step, so here we are!
We are getting really excited for 2024 growing season, it's already started in the form of lots of little seedlings growing under lights in the spare bedroom! Right now, we are working on building a greenhouse which is a pretty big addition for our farm. It's a dream come true for sure! I get to learn to grow in a whole new environment with longer growing season possibilities too. With the addition of a greenhouse we are looking to offer plant starts for both veggies and flowers for your landscape. I have already ordered seeds and have things started indoors. Hopefully the greenhouse will be ready in time to move things out there once they are big enough.
Our dahlia tubers are looking really good. I am pretty pleased about that. Last year we had a high % of loss during our winter storage phase. I changed up my storage method and I am very optimistic based on what I am seeing so far. I am working to get product listings ready for a dahlia tuber sale. There is a lot more to it than I imagined.
During the grey winter I have really been missing those beautiful blooms and all the smiling faces receiving bouquets. I can't wait to see things blooming and blessing people once again! For now, I will enjoy tending to al the seedlings, helping Bob build the greenhouse, and browsing the dahlia sales for new varieties to add to my collection to eventually offer to you!
