Early June Update

Early June Update

Well hello there! I’ve been so caught up with everything happening on the farm that I nearly forgot to share an update.

Things have been buzzing around here—nursery plant sales are in full swing, I’ve set up a little self-serve farm stand here on the farm (running on the honor system), and all the cut flower crops are now planted and growing strong for the summer season. I’ve also been busy packing up dahlia orders and shipping them off to customers far and wide.  The biggest project currently is getting our pumpkin and fall decor crops in the ground.  Also, our baby mum plant shipment should be arriving any day and that will be a whole other production getting those potted up set out, and drip irrigation set up for them.

Meanwhile… the housework? Let’s just say it’s been politely ignored. (Oops—yes, I said it!) Honestly, it’s hard to justify vacuuming when the sun is shining and there’s planting to do. So maybe don’t drop by expecting to hang out inside right now—unless you’re into dust bunnies, clutter, and various projects in progress!

The greenhouse is gradually emptying as more plants find their new homes. I’ve been having a great time freshening up the landscape, leaning into a patriotic theme with lots of red, white, and blue in the front gardens. Softer shades—pinks and pale purples—have found their way to the backyard near the greenhouse. It always brings me joy to give the space a seasonal refresh with cheerful annuals.

It’s been wonderful to reconnect with familiar faces and meet new folks who stop by for plant sales. We’re down to just two big tables of plants left—veggies, perennials, annuals, potted dahlias, and more. I’ve been watering everything three times a day in this heat, doing my best to keep all the plants happy until they find their future garden homes.

Today, I’m wrapping up the last of the dahlia shipments… just in time for another 100-degree day. Yikes! Wish me luck—and maybe a cool breeze.

Until next time,
🌸 Julie
